The Use Of AI

Some people have expressed concerns about the use of artificial intelligence in creating certain assets for lone.AI. The opinion of using AI-generated material is generally negative, and this is a legitimate worry. I understand these concerns, especially given the current influx of AI-generated content. My goal is to address and alleviate some of these concerns. 

Why am I using artificial intelligence to aid in making lone.AI?

AI can streamline certain aspects of the game development process, allowing for faster creation and iteration of assets. It can help manage larger volumes of work, particularly when it comes to generating or editing a variety of assets. With the help of AI, I can create my game much more quickly as a solo developer. 

How am I using generated content?

While a small portion of the content in lone.AI is AI-generated, most of these images are still edited by me. This includes objects and backgrounds. A small amount of sound effects have been generated, but AI has not been used to create any music, code, or story elements.

Why not hire an artist?

I would like to hire an artist, but it is beyond my current budget. Without the use of AI, I would still create most of the art myself.

What does the use of AI mean for players of lone.AI?

The use of artificial intelligence in the creation of lone.AI will lead to faster development and release of content, and more importantly, a low-cost game.

What does the future hold for Digital Drank and AI? 

After developing and releasing lone.AI, I will shift my focus more heavily to my next project. In response to concerns about the use of artificial intelligence in lone.AI, my next project will not include any AI-generated or AI-edited assets. My goal is to create a game without any AI content to showcase what Digital Drank can achieve independently, both for gamers and for myself. However, this does not mean that all future games from Digital Drank will exclude AI-generated content. Some may use a combination of AI-generated assets and outsourced artists, while others may not.
